Question
Do you teach watercolor painting.
I do teach watercolor painting but it is the most difficult medium to master and you would need a background in oil painting as you should know how to mix colors well. Also you need to be very good at drawing as a complete sketch needs to be made before you paint which is not the case with oil painting. For oil painting just a simple sketch is needed so you do not need to be very good at drawing to do oil painting. Also oil painting is very forgiving and watercolor is much more difficult as it can be over worked.

Question
What do I need to bring for painting.
Please bring a roll of paper towels, a caddy box with handle in the middle to carry your supplies back and forth to class. It is best to get the painting supplies from me as you would not be able to find all the same things in local stores and I need to teach you with certain items. You will need to place a large flat box similar to one you get from Costco in your trunk to place your wet painting and transporting it to class. Also wear something old in case of staining. We will only be learning how to paint with 6 basics colors and a few needed brushes and a painting knife.

Question
I read and heard about you and want to know if both my child and myself can take lessons from you. Do you take adults and children too?
I can take adults and children from 9 yrs of age in the same class as I start with 9 yrs. old and can take any age up through adults. Each person in my class is getting a private lesson in a group environment doing what they would like to learn. So, everyone is learning something different.

Question
I have never taken any classes before but would like to learn
If you have the desire to learn you will learn. I would start you with a bit of drawing to get your drawing decent and if you want to go further I can teach you perspective drawing (learning how to make things go in the distance). After that you can start with oil painting or color pencils or pastels for those who want to do color but not necessarily paint.

Question
What should I start with?
If you do not have a strong desire to paint I would suggest drawing to start with especially a 9 yr. old. However, I do start 9 yr olds with painting if they can draw fairly well and have learned how to do perspective drawing.
